JOB SUMMARY

Denver Test Prep (DTP) is looking for a dynamic, experienced educator and administrator to manage our nonprofit partnerships and programs. As Manager of Nonprofit Programs, you’ll play a key role on a high-performing team at a locally owned company that’s expanding its reach and impact across Colorado.

This role blends direct instruction, program leadership, and administrative coordination, with the balance shifting throughout the year. You’ll serve as lead instructor for a number of nonprofit ACT/SAT programs and also carry a significant caseload of private tutoring clients, while managing the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our nonprofit partnerships running smoothly.

We’re looking for someone who is both an excellent administrator and an impactful, engaging educator – equally comfortable managing program logistics and building strong relationships with students, families, and community partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build and grow relationships with nonprofit partners, schools, and families
• Serve as lead instructor for nonprofit ACT/SAT prep programs and other nonprofit program offerings
• Provide private one-on-one tutoring in academic subjects, academic coaching, and test prep
• Staff, schedule, and coordinate nonprofit programs, including invoicing and budget tracking
• Track attendance, homework completion, and program outcomes, and report results to partners

WORK HOURS EXPECTATIONS AND SCHEDULE

Candidates should be ready to work 50–60 hours per week during the school year for the next three years to fast-track their career growth and earnings. This is a leadership-track position with the expectation of promotion and total compensation of $100K+ within three years.

While the schedule is flexible, most tutoring will take place on weekday evenings (2–9pm) and weekends. The Manager will work 5–6 consistent tutoring days during the school year and 3–4 during the summer. Meetings and administrative work can largely be done remotely. The role includes unlimited vacation, with an expectation of 4–6 weeks off annually, including school holidays.

Candidates must have reliable transportation and be able to travel throughout the Denver metro area, with occasional trips to Boulder.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Graduate of a 4-year college or university. Major in a STEM field and/or graduate degree preferred.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 for STEM major or 3.3 for liberal arts major in most recent degree completed.
• 2+ years of program and/or project management experience required.
• 2+ years of teaching or tutoring experience required.
• 1+ years of classroom or other group instruction experience required.
• Ability to tutor middle school and high school math (including algebra 1, algebra 2, and geometry) required.
• Strong writing skills and ability to support middle school and high school writers required.
• Ability to achieve a top 2% score on the ACT and SAT (measured by an official practice test later in the interview process).
• Strong administrative skills, including experience with invoicing, budget tracking, and program/data management systems.
• Strong track record of clear and effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Exceptional relationship building skills, with the ability to form and maintain meaningful connections with DTP clients and non-profit partners.
• Proven ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks independently and within a team setting.
• Background check required as a condition of employment.

JOB SUMMARY

As a Senior Academic Coach with Denver Test Prep, you’ll play a key role in helping students achieve life-changing growth – both in their academic coursework and on the tests that open doors to the schools they want to attend. Working primarily one-on-one with private clients, you’ll provide highly customized instruction that boosts confidence and helps students reach their long-term educational goals. In this role, you will support students to develop their executive functioning skills, improve their understanding of course content, and prepare for admissions exams.

You’ll spend most of your time meeting students in person (homes, offices, libraries), coaching students toward academic success, teaching strategy-driven content, tracking student progress, and communicating clearly with families and our team. Tutors at Denver Test Prep are valued professionals and are given autonomy to personalize their instruction while being supported by proven training and a strong team culture.

While the position offers schedule flexibility, expect to work primarily Sunday through Thursday, with evenings as core hours. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver high-quality, 1-on-1 instruction in academic coaching, K-12 subject tutoring, and private school admissions test prep (ISEE/HSPT).
• Build executive functioning systems with students, including organization strategies, study planning, time management structures, and accountability routines.
• Help students set meaningful academic goals and create action plans to achieve them, while coaching students in self-advocacy and academic confidence.
• Develop customized lesson plans and adjust instruction based on student progress and needs, integrating both content instruction and skill development.
• Maintain clear and professional communication with families and Denver Test Prep leadership, providing regular updates on student progress and session outcomes.
• Manage scheduling directly with families, coordinating session times and locations across the Denver and Boulder metro areas.
• Drive to in-person tutoring sessions at homes, offices, libraries, and other agreed-upon locations.
• Track and document student performance, session notes, and key milestones to ensure students stay on track toward their goals.
• Build a strong, growing roster of private clients — a track record here is the foundation for career advancement.
• Support DTP’s nonprofit mission by teaching at least 2 nonprofit programs per year.

MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate of a 4-year college or university. Minimum GPA of 3.0 in the most recent degree completed. Graduate degree preferred.
• A top score on the ACT or SAT, as evidenced by official score reports and/or a qualifying exam, is preferred but not required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• 2+ years of teaching or tutoring experience. Experience with high school students and group or classroom teaching experience preferred.
• Exceptional ability to build strong relationships with students and coach those students toward their goals.
• Capacity to build, manage, and sustain relationships with private clients and their families.
• Proven ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the initiative and follow-through to execute projects from initial stage through completion.
• Maintains a high level of professionalism, integrity, and ethics.
• Experience working in special education or with neurodiverse students preferred but not required.
• Background check required as a condition of employment.

CONTENT KNOWLEDGE EXPECTATIONS

• Ability to tutor core K-12 subjects and prepare students for private school admissions exams (ISEE/HSPT) is required.
• Ability to tutor the ACT and/or SAT after completing DTP ACT/SAT training program.
• Comfort tutoring math beyond Algebra II (e.g., Pre-Calculus, Calculus) is preferred but not required.

HOURS AND SCHEDULE

A significant portion of this role is dedicated to teaching and tutoring students outside of normal school hours. As a result, this role will require consistent availability Sunday through Thursday, with afternoons and evenings as core working hours. Expect significant driving across the Denver and Boulder metro areas to meet students at homes, offices, libraries, and other agreed-upon locations – candidates must have reliable transportation. DTP team members have flexibility during weekday school hours and use this time for a mix of remote work, meetings, and personal time.

Senior Academic Coaches should expect to work approximately 40-50 hours per week during the school year.
