OUR PARTNERS

Arrupe Jesuit High School is a Roman Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory school sponsored by the Jesuits of the Missouri Province. Arrupe Jesuit serves economically disadvantaged students from Denver’s inner-city neighborhoods. By enhancing the human, intellectual, and spiritual capacities of their students through a rigorous, innovative, and affordable college preparatory education, Arrupe Jesuit offers hope for a brighter future to some of Denver’s neediest youth. Their goal is to empower graduates who will continue their education and return as leaders in their communities.

Our Partnership

In the fall of 2014, Denver Test Prep launched its first school-based test prep program in partnership with Arrupe Jesuit. The program provided ACT prep for over 30 Arrupe seniors. The program targeted highly motivated students that needed to improve their ACT scores to be competitive for top colleges and scholarships. Program participants gained admission to multiple top schools, with 9 students qualifying as Daniels Scholarship Finalists and 6 students winning the prestigious Daniels Scholarship.

Given the success of the 2014 program, Denver Test Prep and Arrupe expanded the program to provide ACT prep to over 100 Arrupe juniors each year. Beginning in 2019, DTP and Arrupe moved to offer SAT prep instead. This innovative program model combines large group classes, small group recitations, and 1-on-1 tutoring to help Arrupe students prepare for the SAT exam. All juniors participate in the school-day SAT prep program, and over 25% of Arrupe juniors opt to participate in an additional after-school SAT program to further increase their scores.

Our Partnership

Denver Test Prep has offered standardized test prep classes across DSST campuses since 2018, beginning with a Saturday ACT bootcamp at DSST: College View High School. Given the success of our first program, DTP began in-school SAT boot camps with College View, DSST Cole, and Conservatory Green High Schools, in addition to a network-wide opt-in virtual SAT class beginning in 2020. In 2021, DTP worked with DSST math teachers to train them in teaching SAT math to their own students. In 2022, DTP added a short SAT review program for DSST seniors in addition to the in-person and virtual classes across eight campuses. Starting in 2024, DTP has also offered afterschool science enrichment programming to three DSST middle schools.

Denver Test Prep conceived of our “Pay-What-You-Can” SAT prep course in 2020. As COVID-19 led to the unexpected shutdowns of schools and in-person programs, DTP wanted to find a way to offer high-quality test prep programming to highly motivated students who otherwise would not have access to these services. Over the past several years, the course has continued, targeting students outside the Denver metro area and those within Denver who may not otherwise be able to afford access to SAT prep services, thereby improving their odds of college acceptance and merit scholarships.
